Smoke detector: as a minimum protection, smoke detectors are mandatory in all bedrooms and children’s rooms as well as hallways that serve as a rescue route. To ensure the best possible protection, we recommend installing a smoke detector in all rooms, except rooms where a lot of dust, smoke or water vapour (kitchen, bathroom). It is important to remember that the sensors in all smoke detectors deteriorate over time. We at FireAngel recommend replacing smoke detectors every 10 years. Heat detector (kitchen detector): heat detectors are the only detectors suitable for use in the kitchen as they are not affected by cooking fumes like conventional smoke detectors. Almost half of all fires are created in the kitchen, with cooking and defective household appliances (refrigerators and tumble dryers) being the main causes. We recommend installing a heat detector in the kitchen, but you can also install additional heat detectors in the garage and loft to protect these areas. Carbon monoxide (CO) detector: A carbon monoxide detector is the only way to draw attention to a carbon monoxide leak; you cannot smell, taste or see it, so that it cannot be detected by human senses. Carbon monoxide (CO), the so-called silent killer, is created when fuels are incomplete, with the most common sources of gas boilers, fireplaces and stoves as well as gas stoves. However, carbon monoxide can also penetrate through walls, so you are also at risk if a neighborhood house has a leak. We recommend installing a CO warning at a distance of 1 to 3 m from each fuel appliance and installing additional equipment in areas such as living rooms and bedrooms where you are most at home. All Fire Angel smoke detectors are independently tested to EN14604:2005+AC2008 (smoke detector).
