Johann Wolfgang von Goethe (1749 – 1832) is regarded as one of the most important Representatives of German-speaking seals.
Goethe’s literary production includes lyrics, dramas, epic, autobiographic, art and literary theoretical and scientific writing. Goethe was the preparer and the most important representative of the storm and urge. His novel The suffering of the young Werther made him famous in Europe. His fist gained his reputation as the most important work of German-language literature. At age he was also regarded abroad as a representative of spiritual Germany.
In the German Empire he was transfigured into the German national poet and artist of the “German being” and as such was taken for German nationalism. It used a veneration not only of the work, but also of the personality of the poet, whose life was perceived as exemplary. To this day, poems, dramas and novels from him are among the masterpieces of world literature.
For many years the Potsdam artist Alex Agwanjan, lovingly hand-crafted, has produced a wide range of sculptures, reliefs and cans from the materials cellane or plaster. Particularly important is the clean presentation of the finest details, which is possible thanks to the material cellane.
Cellane is a synthetic, inorganic moulding compound that has a porcelain-like structure when hardened. The material is easy to work with like plaster, can be painted or dyed before use and requires no drying or burning for curing. Cellane is about twice as hard as plaster and also significantly heavier. The use of cellane allows a very high image accuracy and the finest detail representations.
