  • Raw xuan paper has strong water absorption and permeability, making it easy to produce a rich variation of ink rhyme. It is often used in landscape painting. It is not easy to master the ink painting, as the ink and water seep in quickly.
  • Ripe xuan paper is lack of blotting, making it suitable for use in brush painting, as it can withstand layers of chalking, and the ink & color will not spread out. Not recommend for ink and wash painting, as it can become “alum-bleached” or brittle after a long time.
