w carabiners, chain connectors) are mainly used to absorb tensile forces when ropes, wire ropes or chains are transferred to fixed components. They are also regularly used as emergency links (rapid link) for connecting chain links. The use of a screw connector allows easier replacement of a damaged stainless steel chain or wire rope. The curved shape makes the connection more flexible. Screw connectors are often a useful alternative to snap hooks, snap-fits and shackles.
In the past, their use has proven itself in the following areas:
Water sports, boat building, boat sports, shipping, yacht building, gardening and landscaping, food and beverage industry, water and sewage technology, machine and plant construction, conveyor technology, playground equipment on playgrounds, fastening of awnings and sun sails.
These screw connectors have not been developed and manufactured for lifting purposes as part of hoisting equipment or load carrying devices
. Therefore, their use as lifting equipment, slings or load carrying devices, especially in the scope of the machinery directive 2006/42/EC, is not permitted.
For the calculation of the working load, a safety factor of 3 for occasional use is recommended. For permanent and dynamic loads, a safety factor of 4 is applied.
Assuming the screw connector is subjected to regular or dynamic loading and has a breaking load of 2,000 kg. Then the working load is calculated as follows:
working load = breaking load / safety factor
Working load = 2,000 kg / 4
Working load = 500 kg
