The Barkroll BM04 roll holder is part of a collection of objects designed by Michael Boucquillon and Donia Maaoui, inspired by the trees that surround their home in the hills of Lucca. It is produced in the Alessi plant in Crusinallo di Omegna in a series of steps that form the metal plate and preserve the organic and curved shape designed by the two authors. The design of this original reel seat is reminiscent of the bark of a tree: the tunnel reminds of the knots of the wood, the cylindrical shape to the structure of the trunk. The result is a poetic yet functional object that, as the authors explain, reminds us that the paper comes from the trees with every crack. Also available in black and white.
