With filter adapters, you can use filters with a different diameter than that of the lens.
The same applies to other accessories with a standard filter thread, such as converters or attachment lenses. The filter adapters are simply made – mostly anodised aluminium, very thin and yet stable.
Even in combination with retro adapters, a filter adapter can be used. For example, to combine a retro adapter with a 58 mm filter thread with a 52 mm lens.
