of the paper has been smoothed flat having been cold pressed a number times through rollers. Please note that this process does not remove every undulation and detail from the paper (as witnessed through hot pressing) however when compared to our mid texture papers it is very much smooth in character. This reduction in surface texture lends itself to rendering more detailed and precise marks often required when producing botanic paintings and illustrations. It also aids work in pen, graphite and pencil when a more stable surface is required. Containing 100% cotton rag this paper is naturally tough providing durability and support for many different applications. Highly suitable for watercolour and other painting techniques as well as a range of dry and soft media – for oil painting, the surface will need to be prepared with gesso. Each sheet is individually handmade and features a fully deckled edge. Created entirely by local artisans in Northern India using traditional paper-making methods.
