The game is a highly strategic and powerfully feline version of Russian roulette. Players fish cards until someone fishes an Exploding Kittens card: at that point that someone explodes, is eliminated, is out of the game. Unless that player has a Cat Dispeller card in his hand that can defuse the Exploding Kittens card as laser pointers, belly scratchers or catnip sandwiches. All remaining cards in the deck are used to move, mitigate, or avoid Exploding Kittens cards.
