The SoMoSe v3.4 soil moisture sensor is a sensor for determining the moisture in the soil, potting soil or similar. A special focus is placed on energy saving, making the SoMoSe v3.4 ideal for battery-powered systems. The operating principle of the sensor is based on a capacitive measurement which does not require electrical contact with the earth. In addition, the sensor is completely covered with a durable protective layer. Thus, the sensor is completely protected from moisture and dirt. This makes it very durable and long-term stable. The output signal can be tapped as an analogue value or the sensor is read with the digital I²C interface. The analog output signal is averaged over 30 seconds. The I²C interface allows you to read the averaged value, as well as the current measured value and temperature. In addition, both the I²C address and the limit values can be adjusted to calculate the humidity. Operation in energy-saving mode is also only possible via I2C.
