The measurement is non-invasive and painless, as two light beams of different wavelengths strike the inserted finger inside the housing. Oxygen saturation indicates the percentage of haemoglobin in arterial blood that is loaded with oxygen. It is therefore an important parameter for assessing the respiratory function.
