The Victoria Cross (VC) is the highest military decoration awarded for valour “in the face of the enemy, most conspicuous bravery, some daring or pre-eminent act of valour or self-sacrifice, or extreme devotion to duty in the presence of the enemy” . Military Cross is High military award for “Acts of Gallantry during active operations against the enemy” . George Cross is currently awarded for “Acts of the greatest heroism of the most conspicuous courage in circumstances of extreme danger. British War medal was awarded to officers and men of British and Imperial forces for service in World War I. Bravery in the Field medal was awarded until 1993 as very high level award for bravery in the field and it was equivalent to military cross medal. To qualify for the Victory medal one had to be mobilised by Britain, in any service and have entered a theatre of war between 5 August 1914 and 11 November 1918
