Most of the day the koala bear spends sleeping and almost becomes active for food intake and reproduction. With its large, sensitive nose, it can smell whether the eucalyptus leaves of which it feeds almost exclusively contain toxins. It also uses his nose to locate mother or young animals. In the language of the Aborigines, “Koala” means as much as “without water”, so its name results from the fact that Koalas only drink extremely rarely.
