This sun sail from CelinaSun is the perfect shade for summer! Whether it’s on a terrace, balcony or campsite, the sun sail can be erected quickly anywhere. Our CelinaSun canvas offers a high level of natural UV protection with a shading level of approx. 80%, and thanks to its impregnated polyester fabric (PES) it is wind and water-resistant. Note: in case of rain, water pockets may form. We therefore recommend you install the sun sail with a slope of at least 20%. Installation: the sun sail is made stable by the strap sewn in around the edge. Stainless steel eyelets are incorporated at the corners for attachment (sewn crosswise multiple times). Ropes are included within the scope of delivery. Additional mounting accessories are available from CelinaSun. Protection against damage: sun sails have a large surface area that can be caught by the wind. So to prevent damage, the sun sail should be taken down in the event of bad weather, a storm and in winter. Please note: the sun sail has been treated in order to repel water; it is not 100% waterproof. Worth knowing: sun sails are the oldest form of textile-based sun protection. They were already being used in ancient times in India and Egypt to protect people and goods from the sun. Sun sails provided shade on ships and in markets and the Romans even had multiple sun sails stretched over their Colosseum. Resin and wax were used to ensure water droplets would run off. These were predecessors to the modern water-repellent sun sails. The invention of modern awning fabric in the 1980s laid the foundation for the use of various textiles as an alternative to sunscreens and awnings. These became popular in Australia, New Zealand and the USA in the 1990s, marketed under the name “shade sails”, and have been steadily increasing in popularity since then in Europe as well.
