A238 metric Centre drill is manufactured from premium High Speed cobalt and is deigned to start a precise hole in the end of a shaft so the shaft can be securely held prior to machining. The A238 has a 118 degree drilling point and a curved countersink cutting face (radius form) which creates a curved cone in the work piece to be used to hold that end of the shaft securely. The bright finish on the A238 means work piece material will not stick to the cutting edge. It can be used to machine a number of materials including steels, aluminium and stainless steel and is suitable for both conventional machining and CNC machine. It also has a flatted shank making it suitable for use with special chamfering adapters and with two drilling ends it is a great economical solution.
