Reverse osmosis systems create an optimal output water for sea and freshwater aquariums. Many water problems can often only be solved by the use of reverse osmosis water. Reverse osmosis systems work on the principle of physical filtration. Unlike ion exchangers, which exchange hardening ions (e.g. calcium) to other, non-hardening ions (e.g. sodium), pollutants (e.g. silicate nitrate) and hardening agents are physically extracted from the water in a reverse osmosis system. The water runs in the reverse osmosis system through the pressure of 2 – max. 6 bar thanks to a semi-permeable membrane. The substances dissolved in the water (pollutants, salts or hard surfaces) cannot happen to the small grid structure of the membrane and remain in the residual water. This residual water is dissipated as a concentrate and can be used as plastering, watering or utility water. Dupla Reverse Osmosis Systems have a maximum retention rate of 95 – 98% of all pollutants in tap water. Tip: by switching on a Dupla pure water filter (optional accessories), even the smallest residues of silicate and nitrates can be completely removed without leaving any residue.
