Cyanobacteria, also commonly known as red slime alga, is a photosynthesising bacteria that is common in new aquaria. As it spreads, it coats all surfaces, looking like a stringy blanket and cutting out the light. Excital displaces cyanobacteria by stimulating the growth of specific micro-organisms in light sensitive places in the aquarium. It is safe for all aquarium animals and the filter bacteria. Instructions: remove adsorbent media (such as activated carbon) from the filter. Shake the bottle well before use. Use only in marine aquariums. Treatment dosage: 10 ml per 20 litres daily over the course of 5 consecutive days. Results should be visible within 10 days of treatment. Do not make use of adsorbent media for 10 days after the treatment. Severe cases may require multiple treatments. Preventive dosage: 10 ml per 100 litres weekly. While it is safe to overdose on this treatment, do treat it as any other medication and avoid overdosing.
