Sea sponges are the most natural and caring ways to cleanse, massage and gently exfoliate your skin and are superior to any synthetic alternative. Sea sponges soak up and hold more water without dripping. They are long lasting and more abrasion resistant which means they do not peel like synthetic sponges while being used and natural sponges naturally inhibit the growth of bacteria and wash out more easily therefore not retaining any odour
Our environmental, ethical & quality promise: we specialise in the traditional methods of sponge fishing and processing. We monitor our divers who carry special licenses to fish for sponges. The divers handpick the sponges individually leaving the roots intact enabling the sponge to re-grow easily as sponges have the ability to regenerate from the smallest fragment. In fact regular harvesting of sponges enhances their health and population. Each sponge is inspected by the ministry of agriculture and fisheries and certified for export. Our sponges undergo 42 stages of traditional hand processing in our London warehouse and we carefully monitor each stage ensuring complete quality control.
Caring for your sea sponge: rinse in warm water after every use. Squeeze out any excess water gently and allow to dry naturally where air can circulate. To more thoroughly clean the sponge when required, soak it in a solution of one part warm water and one part white wine vinegar for up to one hour then rinse well and air dry. This will keep the sponge fresh and inhibit any growth of bacteria. Do not use the sponge with oil based products as it will disintegrate. Do not bleach, boil, machine wash or wring – just squeeze gently.
