General: thanks to the high absorbency and good odour retention, the original jumbograss is ideal as a small animal litter. During the first week after the basic litter forms a “mattress”, whereby the lower part binds the urine and acts both heat and cold insulating while the upper part remains dry and loose.
Contents: jumbograss bedding is made from 100% biomass without additional additives. The dried stems of the high Chinese grass (elephant grass, jumbo grass, botanical Miscanthus x giganteus) are harvested with the shredder in March/April and shredded to 2-3 cm straw length (individual riders are possible). The residual moisture at this time is only more 8% – 14%. This makes the material extremely absorbent and also easy to store.
Disposal: while manure from wood chips or sawdust can only be disposed of via the organic bin, jumbograss bedding is an excellent fertiliser that can also be used in the home garden and in the vegetable bed.
The shredded material can also be used very well as a bark mulch replacement in the garden, but only by the side.
