Juwel 99800 Filter media set

This filter media set comprises a 5x filter floss, 1x Nitrax nitrate remover, 1 x fine filter sponge, 1x Filter sponge coarse, 1 x Cirax Ceramic granules, 2x activated carbon sponge filter system to make collection of coarse particles of dirt in the water. As a mechanical pre-filter, it protects the filters from dirt and ensures long cleaning intervals for the rest of the filter media. It is made of fine, residue-free polyester material and is suitable for freshwater as well as for salt water. Carbon sponges absorb odour, taste and turbidity as well as toxic compounds in your aquarium and provide crystal clear water. The use of activated carbon in the shape of a sponge ensures an even flow through the filter and provides an extremely large and active surface. Thanks to these characteristics, JUWEL carbon sponges are also ideal for filtering out medication residue after the treatment time. Nitrax reduces nitrate in your aquarium, leading to a noticeable decrease of algae growth. Nitrax is a biological filter medium and contains special micro-organisms to break down toxic metabolism products (ammonium/nitrite) in your aquarium. This means that the risk of fish dying is reduced. In addition, Nitrax reduces the growth of algae by the anaerobic decomposition of nitrate and promotes the vitality of your fish. Cirax is a highly porous granulate on ceramic base, which, thanks to its extremely large surface area, provides an optimal environment for beneficial filter bacteria. Cirax thus contributes towards outstanding water quality in your Juwel filter. The use of a special basket matching the the size of your Juwel filter allows easy use, while the optimised capacity ensures long service life of up to one year. The coarse filter sponge is for mechanical and biological filtering of your aquarium, and is therefore essential for the Juwel filter system. The coarse pore structure offers a larger surface area and a high and even water flow rate of the water. This makes it particularly suitable for biological filtering in the aerobic area. The open pores of the JUWEL filter system are reached without the use of harsh chemicals and so can be removed without leaving any residue. The fine filter sponge is mainly for biological filtering of your aquarium and is therefore an essential part of the JUWEL filter system. The fine pore structure provides a very large surface area and ensure a slow and even flow. This makes it particularly suitable for the biological filtering in the anaerobic zone.
