The Kähler Design brand dates back to the creation of a ceramic workshop (in 1839) on the Danish island of Seeland by Hermann-Joachim Kähler. From 1893, the factory became known through the work of the artist Svend Hammershøi in all Denmark. After several difficult years, the once proud workshop had to be closed in 1974.
