When I decided to invent this product, I was trying to solve two common problems with Mason jar lids: either they leak (like the plastic Ball lids), or they are not food safe (like many decorative lids). These discs solve both problems! The food only comes in contact with the silicone, and it makes many lids airtight and watertight.
We have added a small tab to one side to make them easier to remove. When used with a solid lid, the tab should stick down. When used with a band only, the tab should stick up.
They are made of 2.7mm thick, clear, food grade platinum cured silicone rubber.
Glass and platinum cured silicone are 2 of the safest materials available for food contact!
