The best way to fix this is to remove old glass from existing backing plate (break it into small pieces and remove one by one). Mirror glass is usually slightly bigger than plastic frame, that?s because plastic frame keeps glass inside, in our garage we warm up backing plate using heat gun(you can use hot water or hair dryer), it will make plastic soft enough to bend it. Then you will be able to easily fit glass inside the original backing plate (plastic frame).
