Description: A lathe centre is a tool that has been ground to a point to accurately position a workpiece on an axis. It has an enclosed angle of 60°. The primary use of a centre is that concentric work is generated, allowing the workpiece to be transferred between machining operations without loss of quality. One part can be turned in a lathe, sent for hardening and starting and then sanded between the tips in a cylindrical grinder. A centre is also used to carry longer workpieces where the cutting forces would excessively distract the workpiece, reducing the finish and accuracy of the workpiece. Specifications: Type: MT1 Material: alloy steel. Accuracy: 0.005 Max. RPM: 5000. Angle: 60° Load capacity: 660 pounds. Length: approx. 116 mm / 4.56 inches.
