The Martindale TEK200 detects the presence and polarity of magnetic fields produced by indicators, relays, solenoids and transformers. The integral self-test activates the sensor in the tip of the tester at 50Hz as well as checking the battery and LED. This proves that the unit is fully functional and avoids the need for a separate proving unit. In addition, this unit incorporates all the capability of the Martindale TEK100 voltage indicator detailed above, producing a versatile instrument in a slim and ergonomic ABS housing. A magnet field is considered to be made up of invisible lines of magnetic flux that flow in a defined direction. The accepted convention is that magnetic flux flows from the north pole of a magnet to the south pole of a magnet. The polarity of a magnet, therefore, is defined by the polarity of this magnetic flux. The magnetic field sensing element of the TEK200 is within the tip. The sensing element reacts to lines of flux entering the back of the tip and exiting from the front of the tip. Voltage Range 100 to 600V AC Frequency Range 50Hz to 50kHz Sensitivity 3mm for 100V, 50Hz 23mm for 240V, 50Hz Distances are from the tip of the unit to a flat PVC twin core and earth cable suspended in free space.
