The Cocker Spaniel refers to two modern breeds of spaniel, the American Cocker Spaniel and the English Cocker Spaniel, both of which are commonly called the Cocker Spaniel in their countries of origin. Cocker Spaniels were originally bred as hunting dogs in the UK, with the term “cocker” deriving from their use to hunt the Eurasian Woodcock. When the breed was brought to the USA it was bred to a different standard which enabled it to specialize in hunting the American Woodcock. The number 10F blade cuts to 1.6mm and is ideal for short cut trimming around the face, feet and back end for sanitation purposes. Two longer cut blades for the body are also included, a 7F which cuts to 3mm and a 5 skip tooth blade that will leave approximately 6mm of hair on your dog. There are two types of clipping blades available in most of the cutting depths, the F blade and the Skip Tooth. An F blade has a full row of teeth and gives a sharp finished cut that works well after using a skip tooth blade. The teeth on a skip tooth blade are spread further apart which allows a thick or wiry coat into the cutting head of the clipper.
