Although ideal for bakeware because of its superb heat conduction properties, aluminium is soft in its natural state and is therefore prone to buckling. All Mermaid products are subjected to an anodising process that seals the core of the aluminium, strengthening and hardening its surface. At the same time, the molecules within the surface layer undergo a permanent change and form an oxide film that is similar to a non-stick coating. This enables an enhanced performance and also ensures that the products will never blister, peel or rust. The aluminium core is completely ‘locked-in’ during the anodising process so that it cannot leach into the food. The Silver Anodised Range
Mermaid’s Silver Anodised assortment was released in 2014. Carefully handcrafted and individually pressed and shaped, every piece is finished with a striking silver sheen for creating perfect cakes and bakes. The versatile range features a selection of shapes and sizes that are ideal for both traditional favourites and specialised desserts. Although greasing prior to use is initially recommended, the surface layer of the products gradually forms a ‘patina’ that further enhances food release and lessens the need for greasing. All products from the Silver Anodised collection are backed by a lifetime guarantee. To ensure ongoing optimal performance, the items should only be cleaned with warm water and conventional detergents (not using a dishwasher).
