Thermal till rolls are highly convenient and faster to use for the day-to-day cash register. This is the standard-size thermal paper roll and will work with the majority of Receipt Printers and POS systems. Applications include restaurants, adding machine paper, calculator paper rolls, retail stores, credit card machine paper, gas stations, etc. Thermal paper is less expensive than other paper used for printing, which means reduced printing costs. To print a thermal receipt, a heated stylus passes over the thermal paper, which is coated in a chemical that darkens when heated. Unfortunately, the chemical layer remains active after the receipt is produced, so it’s sensitive to light, heat, friction, abrasives, and plastics and can fade or darken quickly. The advantage for the vendor is that the tills don’t need to be replenished with ink like a normal printer, and handheld devices such as chip and pin units can be streamlined as no ink cartridge is required.
