A few bands have combined hard rock, progressive rock and pop with the elegance and style of Canada’s SAGA. Their sound fuses: prominent guitar riffs, often in harmony with a synthesizer, and complex keyboard arrangements. Their self-titled debut album (1978) became a solid success in Canada, yet went big in Germany and with hits like “How Long?” “Humble Stance” and “The Perfectionist”, they got noticed all over the world for their original mix of progressive rock, pop and classic rock. Gaining more fame throughout the years, thanks to great songwriting and musicianship, they broke into the Canadian Top 40 with the singles “Wind Him Up” and “On The Loose” (peaking at #26 on the American Billboard Charts) in 1983 though these songs originate from the 1981 album “Worlds Apart”. With their 5th studio album “Heads Or Tales” (1983), they skyrocketed with the lead single “The Flyer”, peaking at #79 in the US Billboard Charts, following with “Scratching The Surface” as a second hit single from the album. Followed by impressive releases such as fan favourites “The Security of Illusion”, “Trust”, or the impressive conceptual album “Generation 13” their popularity steadily increased and led to a huge loyal fan base in Europe and all over the world. Selling an impressive 8 million+ albums to date, they continued to surprise their fans when they released their 20th studio album “20/20” with Michael Sadler on lead vocals. The album charted at #13 in Germany as well as in the Swedish Top 40 – not a coincidence at all as the album surely is on its way to become a progressive rock classic. The follow-up “Sagacity” (2014) kept the band’s characteristic sound alive while adding a modern touch to their music and made it to Germany’s top 20. Welcome to SAGA 2015!
