This incense is inspired by the “bintsuke abura”. Towards the end of the Tokugawa era, art and culture flourished in edo (Tokyo). It was a time of prosperity and one of the aspects in which it was expressed was in the prints of the fabrics, edo komon. In that samurai society, clothing was very simple, but people wanted to look unique, different, and sought to express themselves through the prints, colors and drawings of the fabric. These decorative motifs spread to kabuki theater, nishiki woodenching and many aspects of everyday life. They evoke images of a singular world of dazzling beauty, and still today, the designs that were created then seem modern to us and remain a source of passion and inspiration. We hope you enjoy this precious and exquisite incense. The packaging is inspired by edo prints and reflect a genuinely Japanese aesthetic sensitivity. This traditional design is asanoha, leaf pattern. This type of motif is connected to the idea of health and growth of children who, like leaves, grow strong and quickly. People wear this type of pattern on clothes and other items in the hope of attracting good fortune. Since 1575 nippon kodo has been producing incense with premium raw materials, combining its precious artisan tradition with the most modern technologies.
