Before each use: make sure the thermometer has been at room temperature for 15 minutes before use. Clean the thermometer tip before each use by rubbing it with alcohol on cotton wool. Turn “on” The thermometer by pressing the power button. Several readings will be displayed indicating the thermometer is operating. When you see L F (or L C) on the display, the thermometer is ready to use. Measuring the temperature by oral use: 1. Place the sensor tip of the thermometer under your child’s tongue and gently hold for 60 to 90 seconds. 2. You will hear a signal alert when the temperature reading has been taken. 3. Read the digital display for the temperature. By underarm use: clean under armpit with a damp cloth and dry thoroughly. Place the sensor tip of the thermometer under the armpit and gently hold for upto 4 minutes. You will hear a signal alert when the temperature reading has been taken. Read the digital display and add 0.9F or 0.5C for the final temperature reading. By rectal use: lightly coat The sensor tip with petroleum jelly for easier insertion. Place child across your lap and spread buttocks apart with Index finger and thumb. Gently place sensor tip into the rectum approximately 1/2 inch for 60 seconds. You will hear a signal alert when the temperature reading has been taken. Read the digital display and subtract 0.9F or 0.5C for the final temperature reading. Turning off the thermometer: to turn the thermometer off simply press the power button and the display will switch off. The thermometer will automatically turn itself off after 7 minutes of no use. What does the temperature reading mean?: temperature readings vary by people. A normal temperature ranges from 97F/36C to 100F/37.7C when taken orally.
