The product is fully waterproof and has maximum protection against rain, dust, moisture, or internal fogging due to extreme temperature fluctuations. The binoculars are double O-ring sealed as well as nitrogen-purged so that temporary (i.e. accidental) immersion into 1 metre of water will have no negative effects.
A prism is a complex optical element necessary to correct the image the right way up and reduce overall length of the binocular. In a prism, light travels through complicated angles and so the quality of the prism glass used is of significant importance. PENTAX uses exclusively high-index BaK4 prisms, made of very pure Barium glass. In roof prism binoculars, light rays are mirrored several times which can result in reduced light transmission. By adding an additional Phase Correcting coating, the light rays frequencies are corrected to their original values
