Pet Friend Vermiculite has many uses in the reptile and insect keeping hobbies. Primarily used for the incubation of reptile eggs or as a substrate for spiders it also has many other uses where it is important to keep a higher humidity. Added to deshedding boxes it can be placed under moss where it will help prevent the moss drying out and aid the shedding of reptile skins. Used as a substate in egg laying hides it encourages snakes and other reptiles inside where once laid helps prevent the eggs drying out early before they can be moved into an incubator.

- 100% NATURAL SUBSTRATE – Made from volcanic rock that is heated in production and then expands creating millions of tiny bubbles within its structure. It is these bubbles that give Vermiculite its fantastic moisture retaining properties.
- CHOICE OF TWO GRADES – Pet Friend vermiculite is available in either a fine or coarse grade depending on your preference. We recommend the fine grade for reptile egg incubation and the coarse grade as a spider substrate but either grade will work well.
- BREEDING & SHEDDING BOX BEDDING – When added as a substate to reptile shedding boxes Vermiculite helps raise humidity levels inside aiding shedding and also encourages snakes into breeding boxes helping prevent early egg dry out before they can be moved to an incubator.
- REPTILE EGG INCUBATION MEDIUM – Put a suitable layer of Vermiculite into the incubation tray and add water at a ratio of around 2:1. Then carefully place the eggs onto this layer taking care to make sure the they are not turned, a felt tip mark on the top of the eggs helps to ensure they are place in the same orientation as they were found. It is advisable to leave a gap around each egg as the eggs may expand over time. Now carefully place the tray into the incubator.
- SPIDER SUBSTRATE – Place the required amount of vermiculite, around 25-50mm depending on size and species, over the base of the vivarium and add water until the correct consistency is achieved. Spot clean as necessary and change completely every 4 weeks or so.
