Silverline 103696 Surface Forming Plane Metal Body 300 mm

Silverline’s wide range of woodworking hand tools includes the Surface Forming Plane. Also known in the industry as a Surform Plane, this handy tool is used for shaping and planing all types of wood, aluminium, copper, plastic and laminate.
Compared to conventional rasps or sandpaper, the advantage of using the Surface Forming Plane is that it delivers a faster cutting action with very little dust. In woodworking applications, the surface forming plane is used for rapidly removing wood from curved surfaces.
Replaceable blade
Comprising a tough, die-cast body, the Silverline plane is fitted with a replaceable 250mm carbon steel blade. The blade surface is perforated and each hole has a sharpened rim, which delivers a planing or ‘grating’ effect to the workpiece without becoming ‘clogged’. Whilst the finish result is often quite coarse, the planing tool is generally used for shaping the workpiece, before finishing with a finer sanding tool, such as a file or sanding block.
Two-position handle
Made from tough polypropylene, the Plane’s comfortable handle has two positions, enabling the tool to be used as a plane or a file.
