Suntour’s original company history dates back to the 10s of the 20th century: Initially started as a manufacturer of chainrings, transmission components etc. for bicycles, the company increasingly concentrated on further components, especially in the field of gearshifts. Some important innovations can be traced back to Suntour: For example, the current rasterization of the switching steps. From the 1990s, the Japanese manufacturer expanded its portfolio with suspension forks, shock absorbers and power systems for e-bikes, among others. As an original equipment manufacturer for numerous bicycle brands, Suntour occupies an important position with component manufacturers alongside Shimano and SRAM.
