The Starrett S579HZ set of six telescoping gauges measures 5/16 to 6″ holes, slots, and recesses in woodworking, metalworking, machining, layout, and pattern-making applications. The four gauges measure from 5/16 to 1/2″, 1/2 to 3/4″, 3/4 to 1-1/4″, 1-1/4 to 2-1/8″, 2-1/8 to 3-1/2″, and 3-1/2 to 6″. Each gauge has two spring-tensioned telescoping plungers for uniform contact pressure. The self-centring handles are rigidly attached to contact plungers. Five handles measure 2-3/8″ and one handle measures 3-1/4″ in length. A lock at the end of the handle secures the gauge width for measurement with a micrometre (sold separately).
