V-Coil 14mm x 1.25 Spark Plug Thread Repair Kit

The V-Coil Spark Plug thread repair kit is specifically designed for the repair of damaged or stripped spark plug threads. For the common size spark plug of 14mm x 1.25 pitch, this kit contains all the necessary parts required for a complete thread repair. The kit includes the pilot-nose V-Coil tap, installation tool and 15 inserts (x5 at 8.4mm long, x5 at 12.4mm long and x5 at 16.4mm long, when installed). Please note that no pre-drilling is required when you use the special pilot-nose tap. The tools and inserts are made to the highest quality as you would expect from this leading German thread repair brand. The pilot-nose tap is manufactured from High Speed Steel (HSS) and has been precision made with ground threads. Equally, the inserts supplied in the kit are of the highest quality and should not be confused with some of the cheaper alternatives on the market. The grade of stainless steel used to manufacture the wire thread inserts is fully certified to aerospace specifications. V-Coil inserts are produced from precision profiled, high quality, chromium nickel austenitic stainless steel wire, wound into a helical spiral. When installed, the inserts provide strong permanent internal threads which resist heat and corrosion. The inserts are manufactured from Aerospace Specification grade stainless steel: SAE AS7245. The installation tool is of solid construction and is covered with a soft plastic coating on the handle to offer additional comfort when being used. The steps to follow when using this V-Coil Spark Plug kit are: 1) CHECK – Check that the thread and pitch of the tap and of the plug match. 2) TAPPING – Use the special V-Coil pilot-nose tap (included) for cutting the new holding thread. It is recommended to use a suitable cutting oil or lubricant. NO PRE-DRILLING REQUIRED when using the pilot-nose tap. 3) INSTALL THE INSERT – Place the wire thread insert (included) on to the installation tool (included) so that the tang of the insert is positioned at the bottom of the tool. Position the adjustable ring of the installation tool so that the insert tang is centred in the tang slot. Wind the insert in with light downward pressure until a half turn below the surface. Don’t work against the thread direction as the tang could break. 4) TANG REMOVAL – After finishing installing the insert, remove the installation tool by lifting it up and then remove the tang using long nose pliers.
