February 9th 2011 marks the 30th anniversary of Bill Haley s passing. No matter how many times pop music historians attempt to adjust the facts, Bill Haley was without doubt the father of rock n roll. Elvis Presley proved to be enough of a fan to include Rock Around the Clock in his set, and John Lennon once asserted that Bill Haley was the man who started it all . The recordings that Bill and the Comets made for US Decca in the late fifties still shine like burnished gold. The freewheeling joy of rock n roll music, untainted by the constraints of big business, will forever be encapsulated in such timeless titles as Shake, Rattle and Roll , See You Later, Alligator and Razzle Dazzle . During the period that Bill Haley & His Comets were with Decca, they recorded several albums. So, in order to honour the man and his music at this point in time, Fantastic Voyage have assembled a generous 2CD set combining four of those groundbreaking long-players, backed-up by a string of classic singles. Each and every one of the Haley hits is included, and the compilation comes complete with detailed notes from long-time fan, Stuart Colman.
