When the Norwegian vocalist Karin Krog first discovered the distinctive guitar playing of Jacob Young, a student of Jim Hall and John Abercrombie, on the radio some years ago, she realised that though she had worked in a duo with several different instruments over the years, she had never worked with a guitarist. Eventually she contacted Young, and after doing a radio show together, they both felt that they should continue their musical journey and prepare enough material for a CD recording. “Where Flamingoes Fly” – recorded almost two years after their first contact – is the result. The recording was produced by John Surman and the recording engineer was Jan Erik Kongshaug.
