XXXL Winter Protection for Mediterranean Plants So that Mediterranean plants such as olive trees feel comfortable even in winter, they must be protected from frost. Ideal for this – even for large specimens – is the Windhager Mega fleece hood. This will help evergreen plants during the winter. The antifreeze fleece also reduces temperature fluctuations – which in turn is important for plants without leaves, otherwise damage to the bark can occur. Wrapping plants winter-proof made easy. The frost protection is simply put over the tree crown thanks to the side full-length zip and then closed. It can be helpful to work with two people, or take a long stick (or broom handle) to help you. The hood can then be easily closed at the bottom with a drawstring and stopper. The upper part is closed flat. Caution: in case of persistent severe frost, particularly sensitive plants should overwinter in a sheltered place. For olive trees, e.g. constant temperatures between 5-10 °C are ideal, even if they can withstand short temperature breaks with light frost with winter protection.
