Chrome tension rods are not suitable
Some vendors save the stainless steel screw and use a cheaper,
chrome-plated set screw.This is not easy to recognise at first glance.Unfortunately,
contact corrosion repeatedly occurs in this context (according to DIN EN ISO 8044, this is
a corrosion due to the electrochemical reaction of two metallic materials or other
electron-conducting solids).In practice, the thread of the chrome-plated screw corrodes
at the point where it is in contact with the stainless steel strip.The pipe clamps dissolve, as the
thread is no longer positively connected to the clamp band.Water damages and
similar accidents are the result.
If you are looking for a reliable hose clamp, make sure that
the metal band of the clamp is not perforated and that the entire hose clamp including
the clamping screw, is made of high quality stainless steel.With a magnet you can check yourself
whether the screw is made of stainless steel or not.If the screw is strongly magnetic,
then it is a galvanised iron screw.If the screw is not magnetic,
it is most likely stainless steel.
