In 1921 Giovanni Alessi started handmaking objects for the table and for the home in copper, brass and nickel silver. The Ufficio Tecnico Alessi (Alessi Technical Office) origins are in this small workshop which items won acclaim for their workmanship and perfect finish. During the fifties Ettore Alessi, as head of the Technical Department, introduced in Alessi the stainless steel processing that brought a number of structural and technical changes to the company. He strengthened the design identity of the company’s technical office, paving the way for development of several best-selling products.
