The rebels at the Eco base, faced with an imperial contingent that far outnumbered them, were forced to use the scarce resources available to organize their defense. Making use of the local wildlife (the tauntauns) and led by the rebel heroine Leia Organa, these brave fighters devoted all their ingenuity and courage to a seemingly impossible task. Although they ultimately had to retreat, they managed to defend their position long enough for many of their transports to escape Hoth and to keep the dream of the Rebellion alive for another day.
