With the same pin layout and the ATmega2560 chipset, you don’t need to make code adjustments and you can access the full shield range, which is also compatible with the original Arduino Mega. The Mega2560 R3 can be operated via the included approx. 50 cm long USB-B connection cable directly to the PC or optionally via an external voltage source with 5.5 x 2.1 mm plug (min. 6 V, max. 20 V; 7-12 V is recommended). A CH340G converter communicates with the PC via USB. You can upload even large sketches with up to 248 KB of memory (the bootloader uses 8 KB of 256 KB of flash memory). Furthermore, the 16 MHz high speed Atmega2560 has 8 KB SRAM and 4 KB EEPROM memory. There are 54 digital I/O pins, including 15 with 8-bit PWM and 6 external interrupt pins and 16 analogue inputs with 10-bit resolution. The data transfer takes place via two hardware serial connections, SPI and I²C. For the first steps after purchase, you will receive a free tutorial eBook with installation and programming instructions (English language not guaranteed).
