The Passive version allows you to connect a power cable (not included) as it leaves the device port free and accessible. It should be installed on a ProClip (specific bracket for a particular car) to get full Brodit support. It must be chosen according to the exact model of smartphones in your possession; or in the adjustable version it is adjustable by means of a screw mechanism within a specified range of sizes.
