Crossing with more safety In the case of a bridge, the route section leads upwards and usually over another lane. In order to widen the racetrack a bit at this point, you have the option of lining the track with edge strips. If you want to line your racetrack with shoulder strips, it is not just about visual aspects. The edge strips are not absolutely necessary for straight lines – including crossings – but especially in the curves of the racetracks, the edge pieces should not be missing on the outside as well as on the inside. In order to achieve a visually appealing and harmonious image, it makes sense to also provide other chicanes, such as crossings, with edge strips.
