Solid Brass Hermes Door Knocker
Hermes is a very apt symbol for your front door as he was patron of travellers, as well as being a god of transitions and boundaries.
This is a faithful recasting from a Victorian Kenrick pattern and with its traditional look this knocker is perfect for beautiful front doors and restoration projects.
Hand polished with an unlacquered finish.
The rapper hinges behind Hermes’ winged helmet and strikes on a separate striking plate.
Dimensions:
Height: 275mm (10¾”)
Width: 66mm (2½”)
Depth: 50mm (2″) from the door
Striking plate diameter: 37mm (1½”)
Distance between bolts (centre to centre): 192mm (7½”)
Two fixing bolts are supplied which go through the door and screw into the rear of the knocker and striking plate.
Bolts provided are suitable for doors up to 6cm thick and can be cut to fit your door.
How to care for your brass door knocker
Your brass door knocker will develop a mature and mellow patina over time.
Many people love this look, but if you feel the brass is getting dirty and covered in grime then
you can clean your knocker with lukewarm soapy water and a soft brush or cloth.
Avoid using abrasive materials as they can scratch the surface of the brass.
For a more radiant sheen, use a good quality brass polish.
