The CelinaSun sun sail is the perfect shade for the summer! Whether on the terrace, on the balcony
or when camping, the sail can be quickly mounted anywhere. Our CelinaSun canvas offers a high
level of natural UV protection with a shading level of approx. 93%, and thanks to its impregnated
polyester fabric (PES) it is wind and water-resistant. Note: in case of rain, water pockets may form.
We therefore recommend that you install the sail with a slope of at least 20%.
Installation: The sail is made stable by the strap that is sewn in the entire way around. Stainless steel
eyelets have been attached at the corners for attachment (sewn crosswise multiple timest). Ropes
are included within the scope of delivery. Additional mounting accessories are available from CelinaSun.
Protection against damage: A sun sail offers a large target surface for wind. For this reason it should
be taken down in the event of bad weather, a storm or in winter, in order to protect it against
damage. Please note: The sail is impregnated and is therefore water-repellent – it is not 100% waterproof.
Worth knowing: the sun sail is the oldest form of textile-based sun protection. They were already
being used in India and Egypt in Antiquity to protect people and goods from the sun. They provided
shade on ships and in markets they provided shade, and the Romans even had multplie sun sails
stretched over their Colosseum. Resin and wax were used to let water drip off. The predecessors to
the modern water-repellent sun sail. The invention of modern awning fabric in the 1980s laid the
foundation for the use of various textiles as an alternative to sunscreens and awnings. These became
popular in Australia, New Zealand and the USA in the 1990s, marketed under the name “shade sails”,
and have since then continuously increased in popularity in Europe as well.
