For years, Asian culture has been exerting a strange fascination on the vests. Especially Japan was of interest because it refused to open its limits to American and European retailers. This began to change in the mid-1850s after Commodore Matthew Perry landed with his American ship on the Japanese coast and essentially forced the Japanians to give up their 250-year old politics of the national deflection. Once they settle in Japan, the foreign businessmen were introduced into the Japanese currency system, based on a currency unit called Ryo. Thanks to the centuries of insulation policy of Japan, the Japanese currency is greatly different from the rest of the world. On the one hand, the coins had a rectangular shape and not the more common round shape known as the Japanese inlet coin. This coin was stamped between 1860 and 1869 and was the last of its kind stamped in Japan. Because while Japan remained isolated from the world, it was still a feudal society ruled by military dictators, the Shōgun, and their well-trained Samurai knights.
