With an aperture range of f/2.5 to f/22, Lensbaby Soft Focus II optics is a new and improved version of one of the earliest and most sought-after optics in Lensbaby’s Optic Swap System, the original Soft Focus optics. Compatible with all current and older Lensbaby Optic Swap lenses, the Soft Focus II enhances its predecessor model by adding a manually adjustable 12-fin aperture to its unique and versatile magnetic drop-in aperture system. When shooting with the largest aperture, the SoftFocus II produces an impressionistic image with subtle sharpness of detail. With a colour palette that tends towards soft pastels on larger apertures and a remarkably flat field of focus, this optics allows for images that are not attainable with other lenses. Dimined to f/8 or even smaller, the Soft Focus II produces wonderfully detailed, traditionally sharp images with a large central area of sharpness and blurred edges on full-frame sensors and 35mm film. The rapid variability of the optical effect from impressionistic and luminous to high-contrast and sharp is made possible by the internal 12 fin aperture adjusted by rotating the front of the lens.
