This new line finder works acoustically and provides a fast and affordable solution to find voltage-free lines in the home installation, check telephone lines and identify individual cables/wires or even perform a continuity check. With the transmitter/sound generator a carrier signal is modulated on an electric conductor, which you can track with the receiver/amplifier with integrated speaker or via a headphone jack. A dial on the receiver also allows you to control the sensitivity to ensure the best possible identification even with narrow veins. When connected to a telephone socket via the RJ-11 connector, the transmitter LED indicates the status of the active telephone line between “free,” “occupied” or “ringing”. In addition, the transmitter has a continuity test, in which the LED lights up brightly at passage and decreases with increasing resistance.
